Ofori Amponsah charges at ‘fake’ Pastors

Ghana Highlife superstar, Ofori Amponsah seems to have declared ‘war’ on pastors who point fingers at people for being witches.

Ofori Amponsah, who recently received a lot of media backlash for recanting on his earlier decision not to sing secular music again after he became a full-fledged pastor, expressed these sentiments when he appeared on Ghana’s number one celebrity and lifestyle show, Celebrity Fanzone on Viasat1 last Saturday.

While addressing recent media reports about a 60 year old woman who was beaten badly for supposedly being a witch, Ofori Amponsah condemned the attacks and vehemently rejected any form of finger pointing which suggested that someone was a witch.

“I believe that there is this kind of spirits [witches] but, I do not actually believe they operate at the human level. It is something that is not flesh and blood, so people shouldn’t point accusing fingers at people saying this one is a witch or this one is not. Of course pastors are doing it, you go to the church and they call you and tell you your husband is a witch. This is crazy,” Ofori stated bluntly.

Ofori Amponsah, who refused to reveal the name of his church when asked, also disclosed that, he had a friend who denied support for his parents because according to him [friend], his parents were witches.

“If I come to your church or any setting and you tell me this one is a witch, it’s finished. I won’t talk to you again,” the Otoolege hit-maker cautioned.

Also on the show were co-hosts, Chantelle Asante, Jessica Opare Saforo and Akosua Hanson; who all condemned the terrible treatment meted out especially to women simply because they are believed to be witches.
