A member of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Dr. Kobina Arthur Kennedy says the wave of suspensions within the NPP is not what could insulate the party against another defeat in the 2016 elections.
“The NPP has been hijacked by a cabal…If we keep chasing everybody away very soon all members of the party will come from Kyebi and they can all meet in somebody’s house”
“If he ( Akufo Addo ) is this intolerant to party members how can we be guaranteed that he will be tolerant with divergent views if he were president of Ghana ” – Dr. Arthur Kennedy questioned in a recent interview with Accra-based Joy FM.
The former Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party is most probable to be the next bigwig to be suspended from the party, inside sources say.
Kasapafmonline.com was reliably informed last week that a group of NPP activists have petitioned the Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the party to exact disciplinary measures against Dr Kennedy for misconduct.
But Dr. Arthur Kennedy argues that elections are won by numbers and the continuous acts of hounding members for their divergent views will cost the party greatly.
According to him,if the party is to critically look into matters why the party was sadly crippled with electoral misfortunes in a row- in the 2008, 2012 elections then the NPP must start reviewing the Flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo as to whether he’s the right leader to lead the party to victory in 2016 elections.
“I’m very disappointed in how he’s [Akufo-Addo] conducted himself as leader, but 12 months is a long time, he may recover before we know it -just like Buhari became a new man, he might be a new man and he can lead us to victory. But as things stand now, respectfully and painfully I can assess that we are heading for defeat.”
