The Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) says the internal troubles of the party is nothing that can curtail the chances of the New Patriotic Party come 2016 general elections.

It says the NPP, notwithstanding the internal challenges can recover and make things work better than before, as the election approaches.

Critics have waded into the suspension of NPP Chairman Paul Afoko, as an unpopular decision that will cost the fortunes of the party in election 2016, and intensify the internal bickering of the NPP.

But the Spokesperson for the Council, Dr. Agyei Bawuah says the NPP will get over what seemed to be troubling the party lately and will come stronger as a party to take over the affairs of government.

He told sit-in host Yaa Serwaa Akoto on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Monday that ” I will be shocked if NPP lose in 2016 elections.”

He discounted claims that the NPP is quaking in its boots following recent happenings in the party, urging party supporters to calm their nerves on matters.

He maintained that the party leaders in their wisdom took a decision that he observed is in the best interest of the party.

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) Chairman, Paul Afoko was last Friday suspended indefinitely by the party.

The party has directed 1st Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay to take over as Acting Chairman of the NPP.

Suspension of the beleaguered Chairman was admitted after a unanimous decision taken by the National Executive Committee meeting at the party’s headquarters.

Afoko’s suspension from the party follows a petition by Council of Elders to the Disciplinary committee of the party asking him (Afoko) to step aside for secretly working against the interest of the party.
