NPP Eastern Region demo worst in history – NDC

The Eastern Regional Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress, Baba Jamal has described the recent demonstration held in the Eastern region by pro-NPP pressure group, Movement for Joint Action(MJA) and supported by Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) as the worst ever event in the history of the area.

He said any attempt by the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) to annex the region as one of their home grounds for their ‘unjustified demonstrations’ in the country will never be successful.

He told the NPP to take a cue from the total flop of the demonstration by the MJA and LMVCA in Koforidua, so as not to have themselves disappointed again, in subsequent demonstrations.

“If they try it for 50 times, I know it will be a fiasco” he dared the NPP, as he fingered them for masterminding the demonstration that relatively saw poor attendance Wednesday.

In an interview with Kasapa News, Jamal maintained that the people of the region are endeared to the impressive strides achieved for them in the region with regards to development by the NDC government – a feat he touted as unprecedented in the history of the area.

The outcome of the demonstration, which was set to demand a new national voters’ register is evidence of the people’s revulsion towards the frivolous concerns of the NPP over the electoral database, the ruling NDC claimed.

The demonstration, reportedly started with about 20 protesters and ended with a little over 60 people.

Notwithstanding, the organisers say they’re unfazed by the low turnout.
