Ghanaian international, Asamoah Gyan, returned to action for his Chinese club, Shanghai SIPG but failed to score in the team’s 3-0 win over Maungthong United yesterday.
Shanghai SIPG hosted Thai Premier League team Maungthong United FC at the Shanghai Stadium in Shanghai for the play-off game for the 2016 AFC Champions League qualifiers.
Though the Ghana captain was presented with many scoring opportunities, his scoring boots eluded him, compelling Coach Sven Goran Eriksson to substitute him.
A brace from Wu Lei and a goal from Dario Leonardo secured the important win for the Chinese club who now advance to the next round of the Asian Champions League.
