The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has reiterated the need for all aspiring candidates vying for the position as flagbearer to desist from dirty campaigns.

The party he assured will sanction candidates who will violate the constitution of the party. The chief scribe said, any candidate seeking to lead the party should abide by the constitution of the party and refrain from politics of insults, acrimony and vilification.

Meanwhile, he has announced the formation of a Whatsapp group for all the individuals who have expressed interest in the presidential candidate slot.

The Whatsapp group he explained will afford all aspirants to draw the attention of leadership on any pronouncements that are distasteful.

‘’We intend establishing a Whatsapp platform with all the contestants; so that if you hear any pronouncement that you [candidate] think is not in good taste, you quickly post it there in real time and then, the leadership will have the opportunity to crosscheck the content…and then if there is wrongdoing, we would be able to cover up quickly.’’

He was speaking to a delegation led by former Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Daniel Ohene Agyekum, who presented former President John Mahama’s official letter to announce his decision to contest the presidential primaries.

Mr Nketiah stressed that all the contestants would be treated equally and all the rules also be applied evenly.

He added, it doesn’t matter who wins the primaries, what matters is how that person wins the 2020 presidential race.’’
