‘National Security must take over NPP headquarters’

Irbard Ibrahim, an Independent, Neutral and Non-partisan Political and Security Analyst, has suggested that national security should take over the Asylum Down headquarters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

His call follows Afoko’s loyalists who bused themselves and besieged the premises of the headquarters to demand his reinstatement as National Chairman of the party.

Afoko was suspended by the National Execusive Committee (NEC) and this has resulted in a lot of agitations in the party.
Speaking on Accra-based Top FM, Irbad Ibrahim said amassing close to 3000 party supporters to demonstrate at the headquarters without clearance from the Police is a threat to national security.

“National Security has to safeguard the headquarters because what is happening is dangerous,” he said.

“It has security implications because this has been ongoing for some sometime now, “he added.

He observed also that what is happening in the NPP does not auger well for the party. It does not position the party as an alternative to the “failed NDC government.”
