The son of a 90-year-old woman lynched for being a ‘witch’ at Kafaba in East Gonja, Mariama Akua Denteh has called on the police to with immediate effect bring the killers of his mother to book.
Salami Acquah denied strongly that his mother was a witch as alleged in an interview with Adom News.
He said his mother was beaten three consecutive days with the holiest book of the Islamic faith the Quran in the name of exorcism.
Before her public humiliation, battery and killing on Thursday July 23, Mariama Akua Denteh’s son, Dominic, alleged that the frail nonagenarian was dragged out her home on Tuesday under suspicions that she was a witch.
Madam Akua Denteh was pounded mercilessly by her attackers at Kafaba in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region on Thursday, July 23, 2020 on the accusation that she was a witch, leading to her death.
During her spiritual exercise, many residents including late mama Akua Denteh arrived at the scene to observe her.
Denteh was then identified, not as a conspirator in the arson but a witch, Nongya reported.
Akua Denteh left behind 21 grandchildren.
