Ghana’s 14-year-old swimmer, Kaya Adwoa Forson, who exited the Olympics on Monday, has admitted she needs to work harder in order to return to the games in Tokyo 2020.
Adwoa Forson recorded a personal best time of 2:16.02 in the Women’s 200m freestyle swimming on Monday but her time was too slow to qualify her to the next stage of the competition.
She thus makes history as the first female Ghanaian to compete in swimming at the Olympic Games.
Although she revealed how excited she was after the race, she quickly added there is a lot of work ahead of her.
“I will take the experience with me and also the fact that I have to work harder to improve and hope to return,” Kaya said after her race.
Szandra Szogedi, 27, who competed in judo for Ghana on Tuesday, has exited the Olympic Games after losing to Brazilian Mariana Silva.
