A 30-year-old man, Isaac Kwei Ofori, is in the grip of the police for allegedly breaking into a shop at Osu, Accra and stealing  42 mobile phones, a laptop and various phone accessories valued at GH¢70,560.

Another man identified as Bala Munta was also arrested at Caprice in Accra at the weekend in connection with the case.  He had allegedly bought 11 mobile phones from the suspect at a cost of GH¢2,100  although one of such phones costs more than that amount.

A recording from a  closed-circuit television (CCTV) provided by TigerForce Consult, a private investigation company, and the investigations and intelligence surveillance put on the ground by the Osu Police  led to the  arrest of the two.

According to the Crime Officer of the Osu Police District Command,  Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Richard Daplah,  the station received complaints from a number of  owners of  mobile phone and jewellery shops  at Osu about the  theft of their wares through break-ins.

He said last Friday,  Mr Wisdom Geotrah reported  that thieves had broken into his shop and made away with the items.

That report and the others earlier received by the police, he said, were what led to the investigations that culminated in the arrest of Ofori at Dansoman where he lived.

ASP Daplah said the police would conduct  further investigations after which  the two would be put before court
