A mass burial is being held for the nine victims who died as a result of a stampede at Asawase in Kumasi Thursday dawn.

The incident happened during a jam to celebrate this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr, claiming the lives of the victims, four men and five women.
The deceased are being buried in accordance with Islamic dictates
Five others are on admission at the Manhyia Hospital, one in critical condition and the other four responding to treatment.
There are conflicting reports of the incident that happened at the Asawase Community Centre. While some say the stampede was as a result of a fight, others claim power supply to the centre was disconnected by an unknown person leaving the place in total darkness, and in an attempt to flee through the only exit, the victims were walked over losing their lives in the process.
The police were there moments after the event to control the situation.
Foot wares of many revelers was seen littered on the compound after the unfortunate incident.
