The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by former President John Mahama this afternoon called on the family of the late President Jerry John Rawlings at his Ridge residence in Accra.
Accompanied by the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and NDC leader expressed the condolences of the party to H.E. Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the children, and immediate family.
A daughter of the former President, Dr. Zenetor Agyeman-Rawlings who spoke on behalf of the family said she is overwhelmed with the show of love and care from Ghanaians.
She assured that the family will work closely with the government to ensure Mr. Rawlings is given a befitting burial.
Shock waves reverberated across the length and breadth of the country late Thursday morning as the disturbing news of the demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings broke.
Before the elections in 1992, Rawlings established the National Commission on Democracy (NCD) and employed it to survey civilian opinion to facilitate a democratic transition.
