A 26 year old teacher at the Nkuben DA primary school in the Eastern Region, Faustina Amoah has been raped by a mentally challenged man (madman) on her way to school.
According to eyewitnesses, the madman, known as Ibrahim, in his failed request to have the teacher help him out with 1 cedi gave Faustina a hot chase, pounced on her incidentally and had his way with her.
Meanwhile residents of Nkubem have spoken bitterly about the female teacher and the way and manner in which she normally dresses alleging that have been the cause of her rape.
“It is her fault, we always see her wearing short skirts to school…how come Ibrahim will not rape her? I once called Faustina and told her that the way in which she dresses is bad so she should change it but…I don’t know… she never listened to me.” – a resident revealed.
Faustina had already filed a complaint against the said madman to the police as police authorities at Nkubem reveal the madman had once made a sexual advance at her.
In the meantime, Ibrahim is in the custody of the police as they ( the police officials) intend transferring him to a psychiatric hospital in order to forestall further happenings.
Following the said attack on Faustina, some female teachers at the Nkuben DA primary school say they feel insecure to teach in such an area revealing the ordeal of Faustina remains one such example of the trauma they often have to go through in order to earn a decent living as teachers. One of such teachers, Joyce Nyamekye has thus called on authorities to ensure that the environment for female teachers are made conducive only if it remains conducive.
