    Hearts of Oak began the match on the front foot. Joseph Esso got on the end of every chance they created but were unable to find the net. Kotoko had the chance to punish the Phobians and took it in the 12th minute.

    Justice Blay got on the end of a free-kick by Augustine Okrah to beat the helpless Richard Attah. The Phobians pushed on from there but to no avail.

    Kotoko also had a penalty shout waved off by the referee in the final phase of the half.

    Hearts came out flying in the second half and were rewarded in the 67th mintue. Joseph Esso got his head unto the ball past Kwame Baah into the net.

    Matthew Cudjoe came on for Kotoko and made an almost immediate impact. His shot came off the hand of Mohammed Alhassan and the referee pointed to the spot.

    Naby Keita showed great composure to convert the spot kick in the dying embers of the game.
