Hearts of Oak trainer Kenichi Yatsuhasi blames hard luck for his side’s league match loss Monday to bitter rivals Asante Kotoko.
Kotoko picked maximum points at the expense of Hearts in their epic Week 10 league game, beating the more favoured homesters by a lone goal.
But the manner of the goal, and particularly the role of tested goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye in gifting Kotoko victory would remain topical for some time as Kotoko fans cheered their win after the final whistle just as Hearts fans rained curses on their goalkeeper. Against all options and under no real pressure, Soulama whipped a back pass into his own post to give Kotoko the upper hand in the closely fought match, and what blessing that misfortune turned out to be for the Porcupine Warriors. They defended that goal to the end.
To worsen his own day, Soulama got sacked from the game at a time Hearts had a numerical advantage.
Kotoko’s left back, Edwin Tuffour had been expelled from the match after picking a second caution, however, Soulama would even matters as he committed a professional foul to stop Kotoko’s Dauda Mohammed who was advancing menacingly towards his goal. Referee Awal Mohammed wasted no time to flash the red card.
But in post-match comments, Yatsuhasi said he was happy with the play of his side, even though he was not too enthused with the results. He was sure Hearts would bounce back from the defeat just as they had done in recent times.
And that he said, means a return to the drawing board and hard work.
