Hassan Ayariga, a former Presidential Candidate has expressed his disappointment at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for inviting Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale to the Flagstaff House.

The founder of the All People’s Congress (APC) questioned the essence of having the Ghanaian artiste at the official office of the President, and described the visit as “unnecessary.”

“If the President was serious…I would have expected the President to invite leaders of the country…to come and sit with him and ask them 10 months into my government what has gone wrong? How can we help build Ghana rather than being a birthday reporter,” expressed the candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC) for the December 2012 presidential elections to JoyNews’ Emefa Nancy Dzradosi.

“Our President is busy smiling and busy laughing all the time. You can imagine the kind of workload that is lying down.”

Ayariga claimed the President wasn’t worried about his legacy because the presidency is a retirement package to him.

“Our President is 73 years old…and the Presidency is a retirement package which he is enjoying. If you watch the President he is always laughing and smiling. He has nothing to lose.”

On November 1, 2017, Wale visited the Flag Staff House, the official residence of the President after an invitation was extended on his birthday on October 17.

Present at the meeting were Kwabena Anokye-Adisi (Bola Ray), Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network, and Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice-President, Mahamodou Bawumia.
