Berekum Chelsea forward, Stephen Sarfo, says he is just a step away from winning the goal king title for the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League season.
The 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations top scorer has netted 15 goals this season ahead of Thomas Abbey of Accra Hearts of Oak with 13 goals, while Ahmed Toure of Bechem United and Hans Kwofie of Ashantigold have 12 goals each.
“I know that the other players are also working hard to win it and that makes the race tough but I am confident that it will go for me this year because I am still training hard”.
“I am not surprised that I am in contention for the goal king title because right from the start of the season my target was to help Berekum Chelsea finish well on the table and that is what has brought me this far”, he said.
The 23-year-old goal poacher, who was earlier this week linked with a move to Hearts of Oak and South African side, Kaiser Chiefs, refuted the claims saying, I am still a Berekum Chelsea player because I signed a two-year contract and I have been here for one season and they have not told me about any deal”.
Sarfo, however, hinted that he would fancy playing for any foreign club in the near future if the opportunity presents itself and his employers approve of the deal.
Berekum Chelsea are currently fifth and will take on Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a penultimate game at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday before locking horns with Tema Youth at home in their last match.
