Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia is of the view that the masked men dispatched to the Brong Ahafo home of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South Constituency, Alhaji Collins Dauda.

According to him, the conduct of the armed men exposes them for unprofessionalism further heightening his suspicion they were not policemen but the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group members disguised as police.

“I still do not believe these were police who stormed the house of Collins Dauda to arrest him because they appeared more of vigilante members than police. Even hardened armed robbers cannot be treated in such a manner. This is an honorable lawmaker and you dispatch party vigilante members disguised as policemen to go and arrest him in such a Rambo Style. That is the style you arrest people who do not stay home and others”, he revealed on the show DailyViewGh.com monitored.

He disclosed that the charge of abetment of assault does not correspond to how the lawmaker was arrested though he has since been granted a police recognizance bail.

“After wasting our time for like three hours, he was later granted a self-recognizance bail”, he added on Okay FM.

Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye on Tuesday expressed his displeasure over the manner in which Alhaji Collins Dauda was arrested.

He disclosed that the police violated the privileges of MPs and directed that they must henceforth approach his office before they carry out any action in that manner in the future.

“We want to inform and repeat that the privileges of this honourable house have been clearly set out in the Constitution of Ghana. It applies to all members…,” Prof Ocquaye stated shortly after news broke that the Inspector General Police [IGP] ordered the arrest of the MP.
