Ace humorist ‘Bishop’ Bob Okala, known in private life as Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng insists he is a stand-up comedian and not a joker.
Two-time Arts Critics Reviewers Association Ghana (ACRAG) award winning comedian, reiterated that his sense of humor is a pure comedy giving extreme rib cracking gags.
Speaking to Pluzz FM, Bishop Okala said most Ghanaian actors who make people laugh are jokers and not comedians as claimed by them because they do it with others and not alone.
“Santo, Judas, Lil Wayne, Water Proof and co were all jokers but if we are talking about comedy at the National Theatre I broke that hurdle. If you are alone on stage you are called a comedian but if you act with another person then you are not a comedian but a joker.”
The self acclaimed king of comedy expressed gratitude to Chocho Industries for bringing back the Concert Party series.
“Am happy that Chocho Industries has finally brought back concert party on our screens. It has motivated us to do our old days stuff.”
He said though most of the groups have collapsed, the few groups have been reinstated and are doing very well.
