Ghanaian UN Ambassador Honored at Africa Youth Convention in Kenya

The Republic of Kenya honored H.E. Amb. Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey, the Ghanaian UN Ambassador, with the prestigious Pan Africa Youth Leader of the Continent Award at the Africa Youth Convention. The Kenyan Youth Bridge recognized Dr. Sackey for his exceptional leadership and humanitarian efforts benefiting African youth.

Other notable recipients of awards, such as Eminent Peace Ambassadors, Mayor of Peace, and Justices of Peace, included High Chief Peter Ifranyi Asunoye from Lagos State, H.E. Pastor Umo Eno, Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Lady Rose Nsa Bassey, Mrs. Chikaodili Cynthia Peter from Lagos State, Ebruke Esike Onajite, and Mr. Emamuzo Ogorure from Canada, among others.

Kenyan Member of Parliament Hon. Caleb Amisi, who also serves on the Defense and Foreign Relations committee, congratulated Dr. Sackey for his contributions to youth development in Africa and globally.

Dr. Sackey expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty and to the people of Kenya for the honor, urging African youth to remain steadfast and pursue their dreams with humility and non-violence.

Amb. Dr. Stephen Kojo Sackey is a UN Eminent Goodwill Peace Ambassador, Assistant Commissioner for Social Development at the United Nations International Mission, and Africa Focal Point to the United Nations, IAWPA. He serves as a UN-accredited ECOSOC consultant and co-founder of UNYA/WFUNA. He has been nominated to the Executive Board of Directors for the United Nations Association of Africa and has moderated high-level UN events, including sessions at the UNGA.

With extensive experience in global civil society activism, Dr. Sackey has engaged world leaders in political, cultural, social, and religious dialogues. His work has earned him international recognition and numerous awards, including the UN-SDG Excellence Award and the Danny Glover Power Dream Award as Humanitarian of 2023.

Dr. Sackey’s educational background includes an honorary Doctorate in Diplomacy and International Relations and an Executive Master’s Business Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Conflict Management. He is involved in various global platforms discussing critical issues like the Death Penalty Abolishing Bill, mental health patients’ rights, and the Russia-Ukraine war under the auspices of WFUNA.

As the first Global Ambassador of Project Peace Lights (PPL) Organization, Dr. Sackey advocates for peace and conflict resolution across 30 African countries and the diaspora. His dedication to human rights, security, and economic development continues to influence global policies and earn him accolades, including nominations for the DGPOD, US Presidential Volunteer Service Award, and the Dr. Nina Merhof Leadership Awards.

Dr. Sackey is also a respected media professional, serving as a Diplomatic Correspondent for Central Press Newspaper Agency in Ghana and as President of the Human Rights, Conflicts, and Peace Studies Association at the University of Winneba Graduate School.

He is married and blessed with three children, and his unwavering commitment to global peace and development continues to inspire many.
