Canadian – Ghanaian female singer, Mayfred Osei Tuffour widely known in the music cycle as MayDay has made a revelation that Ghanaian DJs do not promote new coming artiste.
Speaking in an interview with Daily View Gh’s Dan Kwasi Prince the songstress said she believes that the industry with respect to promote upcoming artistes has not performed as well as expected and this she attributed largely to poor promotion by our DJs.“When we compose the song, some DJs don’t help to promote it.
They rather demand huge amount of money before play it on radio. Is not that our artistes are not doing good music, they are but the promotion is down”.
I met a well known Ghanaian Dj who is also a promoter we talk about how he can help promote my music on radio and tv, he agreed with me to send him 5,000 cedis. He received the money and later blocked me on all his social medias.
We are all to be blamed for the low patronage of our songs in other countries, I know few musicians are trying and I must acknowledge that.
But the truth is djs don’t promote our songs.“Just a few DJs play underground songs especially the up and coming DJs,” she added.
She however commended some djs she known on her constant airing of her music.
MayDay is currently out with a brand new single Ouu Gaga Zanku featuring BFour.
