The Ghana Grid Company says the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, which was shut down last month, will resume operation on Saturday, April 9.
This was contained in a press release issued Monday by GRIDCo Chief Executive, William Anuma.
The Jubilee Field partners led by Tullow Ghana Limited announced a 14-day shutdown of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah on March 20, 2016.
“The 14 days shutdown is to allow for planned maintenance work to be undertaken on key equipment of the FPSO,” the statement had said.
The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah is floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel and operates in the Jubilee oil fields off the coast of the country.
Following the shut down and the reduction in gas supply from the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company power producer, Volta River Authority (VRA), revealed there are negotiations with Ivorian power producers for possible supply of power.
Despite this assurance, some parts of the country have recorded intermittent power cuts.
However, the GRIDCo release Monday assured, “power systems engineers shall continue to take steps to mitigate any adverse effect arising from the shutdown”.
The country is just recovering from a debilitating power challenge that spanned about two years.
