A former National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Alhaji Ahmed Rahmadan has been appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirate (UAE).
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday night swore him in and presented him with his instrument of office.
The President said Alhaji Rahmadan was the first Ghanaian Ambassador to the UAE and that decision was predicated on the fact that Ghana had to develop its relations with that part of the world.
He said there had been some forms of relations with the UAE in the past but there was an absence of something systematic.
The President charged him to focus more on how to attract investments into the country considering that the region was endowed with much financial power.
“You are going to have to persuade them that Ghana is the destination. We have all the attributes, the President urged.
Assurances to President Akufo-Addo
Mr Rahman promised to meet all the expectations of the President and carry the flag of Ghana very high.
“I will make sure that the people of the UAE participate in our economy and invest in our country,” he added.
One of his focus, he said, would be to get investors from the UAE to invest in the railway sector in order to bring fulfilment to the vision of the President regarding the rail sector.
