A number of areas in Accra were on Friday flooded after a downpour. The Kwame Nkrumah Circle, some parts of Kaneshie, Teshie, Adabraka and Lapaz were all flooded in what has become a normal occurrence in Accra after a heavy rainfall.
Some roads were inundated by flood waters leaving commuters stranded. About 20 shops along the Teshie Lascala Market Road were reported flooded as a result of the rains on Thursday night and Friday morning. On June 3 this year, a heavy rainfall resulted in a flood and fire disaster that claimed around 150 lives.
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) demolished some structures on waterways and dredged some choked drains so as to ensure free flow of flood waters.
But the rains on Friday morning has left many areas flooded.
