A former Deputy Minister of Tourism under the JJ Rawlings regime – Owuraku Amofa has insisted he and Rawlings never clashed over Akosua Puni, a lady whom Ghanaians speculated was being hit on by both politicians years ago.

Mr. Owuraku Amofa who denied such rumours on Bola Ray’s Starr Chat Wednesday said eventhough he had issues with Rawlings then, the things they were contending with at the time never bordered on any lady.

“It’s not true-we didn’t fight over any lady. I’ve heard people say over Akosua Opuni and all that, but Akosua is my friend, ” he noted.

Mr. Owuraku Amofa founded the EGLE Party, and went into an alliance with NDC, but the two parties severed ties after differences over the party’s choice of vice presidential candidate in the 2000 election.

But Owuraku Amofa, who touts ex-President Rawlings as a noble man said he and Rawlings purely walked on principles  and parted ways on principles as well, hence there wasn’t any fracas  between them that strained their relationship years ago.

“President Rawlings is somebody I’ve always admired, and he’s the one who gave us a break in politics. He was brave enough to come to us in Kyebi  and befriend the eagle, which was a tough bird. He didn’t bribe us; no he became friends with us. He made sense to us,” the Akyem born politician said.
