The family of former President Jerry John Rawlings has disclosed the funeral date of the country’s longest-serving head of state.
James Victor Gbeho, Head of Funeral Planning Committee in a press release, Monday said the family in consultation with government have agreed on December 23, for the funeral.
Former President Rawlings died on Thursday, November 12, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
He was 73 years.
According to the statement, the family of the former head of state was working closely with the Akufo-Addo-led government to ensure that Flt Lt JJ Rawlings gets a befitting send-off.
Rawlings was receiving treatment at Ghana’s premier health facility after he was taken ill for a short period.
Born on June 22, 1947, he was 73 years old when he passed away.
