Editor-In-Chief of the Al Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature, has likened the virtues of the Minority Chief Whip of Parliament, Daniel Kwaku Botwe to a former National Chairman of the of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), B. J. Da Rocha of blessed memory.
However, he said his recent outburst over the country’s voters’ register with regards to cost versus stability has dented his image.
Mr. Botwe, a former General Secretary of the NPP had told Adom FM in an interview that cost of a more credible electoral register would be better than possible chaos that may occur during and after the 2016 general elections.
“You cannot compare lives and properties that would be destroyed to the money that will be spent for a credible register,” he was quoted as saying by Myjoyonline.com.
But Bature in an interview with Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Si Me So on Kasapa 102.3 FM said the widely respected Dan Botwe’s comment’s was most unfortunate since no political party is planning to mar the 2016 general elections with chaos.
In his view, Mr. Botwe’s utterance is a clear testimony that he is now under influence by the NPP’s presidential candidate, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Dan Botwe has been spoilt by Akufo-Addo.When I heard him talking, I asked myself is it Dan Botwe speaking? I will confess. I am saddened by his utterances because Dan Botwe is someone who is respected by Ghanaians. Such respect is above partisanship. He is a partisan man but everybody knows that Dan Botwe is a truthful person.”
“He doesn’t lie. He is not afraid to tell the truth. We know him during his days as a student leader. He has built his credibility. Throughout the NPP, if you are looking for someone with credibility status, he is only comparable to the Da Rochas, Kwabena Agyenim Boateng. These are the real NPP people – they are not afraid to look at the President or the presidential candidate and tell him the truth that ‘masa’ we are wrong on this issue. So, I was sad when I heard him pass such comments,” he noted.
