A tipper truck carrying sand and heading towards Accra has crushed a KIA mini cargo truck, popularly known as ‘Abosey Okai Macho’ on the Achimota Mile 7 overpass.
The accident which happened, Monday, around 7:50am has caused severe injuries to two persons who were onboard the KIA mini cargo truck with registration number GT 7509-15.
The victims have since been rushed to the Hospital for treatment.
Bryt FM’s Parliamentary correspondent, Emmanuel Kwaku Ansah who witnessed the acccident told Dailyviewgh.com that the tipper truck with registration number GR 7125-12 was speeding on the highway but decided to apply the breaks when the driver saw a heavy traffic ahead of him.
“The breaks failed and so the driver decided to veer off his lane onto a different one where he thought he could manage to slow down but unfortunately for him run into the ‘Abosey Okai Macho’ and pushed it to wall. The mini cargo truck was badly damaged and the two people onboard had to scream for help”, he noted.


He added “as at 8:45am, the duo were still trapped in the vehicle while the Police and some youth were struggling to rescue them”.
Ansah further told this website that the rescuers had to use a hacksaw blade to cut the ‘Abosey Okai Macho’ truck to save those onboard.
A towing vehicle that was brought in by the Police to tow the truck away has also abandoned the job after all efforts proved futile.
