Dr Kwame Kyei’s tenure as Executive Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has come to an end, Manhyia Palace has reported.
The Chief of Staff of Asantehene, Kofi Badu, confirmed in a press statement that the business mogul has submitted the report of his stewardship for the past three years to palace.
Excerpts of the statement read: ”The Executive Chairman of the club, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has submitted the report of his administration for the three years of his mandate.
”The report is being evaluated for the consideration of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, and an announcement will be made in due course on the future.”
During his reign, Dr Kyei financed the club’s campaigns in CAF inter-clubs competitions (Champions League and Confederation Cup) but could not reach the Group stage.
In November 2016, The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has appointed a 59-year-old entrepreneur to run the club for the next three years.
This was after the life patron of the club dissolved the Paul Adu Gyamfi-led board on receipt of its final report and interim accounts for the 2015/2016 Premier League season.
Dr.Kyei was tasked to ensure that the club consolidates its position at the top of the Ghana Premier League and takes its rightful place in Africa.
