A new book on the life and works of great Ghanaian folk musician, Agya Koo Nimo, will be launched today, September 10, at the Prof Nketia Conference Hall, Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, Legon.
Born Kwabena Boa-Amponsem 85 years ago, Agya Koo Nimo is a leading exponent of what is widely referred to as the palm wine style of highlife music.
He is a former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and has taught music in Ghana and the United States.
Celebrated locally and internationally for his immense contribution to the preservation and promotion of Ghanaian culture, a concert to mark his 85th birthday will be held lat the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra later in the year.
