Body of Dr Aya Hayfron washed away by floods found in Kpeshie Lagoon

The lifeless body of Dr Aya Hayfron who drowned last Monday has been found and retrieved from the Kpeshie Lagoon, near Teshie in Accra.

The body was found  Wednesday morning by some fishermen at 10:35am after many hours of search.

The body was covered with weeds when it was found.

Dr Hayfron, graduated recently as a medical officer and was waiting for her posting to do her housemanship, was returning home from an evening church service when the Hyundai Accent saloon car which she was driving, was washed away by the flood waters at the Teshie Demo Bridge.

Two other persons who were in the car were rescued by some onlookers, but they could not save her.

Graphic Online’s Della Russel Ocloo reported that the lifeless body of the 32-year-old was discovered by the team of young people from the Teshie Demo community.

Community elders were also at the scene to pour libation amidst traditional prayers.

Before the body was found, family members of the late Dr Hayfron including her husband, Bernard Oppong joined the rescue operation and were seen making frantic calls to other relatives and friends within the community hoping for a good news.

The body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.
