A reporter of Nhyira FM in Kumasi who had gone to interview bush meat sellers rather incurred their wrath and only escaped without beatings because is ‘beautiful’.
Akosua Addai Osei Tutu was greeted with anger by the traders who claim media reportage on the deadly Ebola disease has collapsed their business.
They have vowed to ‘deal’ with journalists who dare approach them for interview on their activities, and fair skinned Akosua nearly had her share of the ‘deal’.
The traders say though the deadly Ebola scare has gone down, its impact has been devastating.
However, when calm prevailed the leadership of the group accepted to speak to Nhyira News.
They say the businesses have collapsed and they now live only from hand to mouth.
President of Bush Meat Sellers Association Maame Wurekye in an interview said the annual ban on hunting, otherwise known as “close season” has little effect on their business.
Meanwhile, the bush meat sellers say hunting of animals is banned from August 1 to December 1 each year.
The only exception is grass-cutter but hunters require a license from the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission to kill them.
Maame Wurekye says the measure is in the national interest.
