Atuabo Gas Plant to shut down tomorrow

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has said that the planned shutdown of Atuabo Gas Plant billed for January 15, 2016 for routine maintenance works will not bring about any hitch in power production.

The Ghana Gas Company will shutdown its gas processing plant for routine maintenance works on January 15, 2016 meant to last for two weeks, official report has confirmed.

There are fears that the routine maintenance will worsen the current load-shedding programme as the company will have to cut the daily supply of about 115 million standard Cubic feet of natural gas to power the plant.

However, this website is reliably informed by sources close to the VRA that the move will not affect its ability to produce power, insisting that there won’t be shortfalls in the system because there is enough crude oil to fall on for the coming months.
