Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are asking for a 1 milllion dollar appearance fee to play one of Ghana’s two big sides, Hearts of Oak or Kotoko.
News broke last weekend Diego Simeone’s side were due in Ghana next month as part of their preseason.
In an exclusive interview with LuvSports, Kofi Apeatu Ampaw,CEO of 2A Multimedia, the company liaising with La Liga officials confirmed the proposed friendly.
“The whole process started with a friend of ours in Spain who handles these summer tours for La Liga Clubs.
“We started talking and lo and behold, Atletico said they would come, of course, subject to some conditionalites. If we are able to fulfil the conditions, they have agreed to tentatively play in Ghana on the 8th of August”,he said.
Mr Ampaw further revealed the financial components of the tour saying.
“For Atletico Madrid to come to Ghana, you are talking of an appearance fee of about a $1 million.”
“So we are talking to them in terms of the payment structure, if they will be willing to move if we are able to mobilize a third of the money for them.”
The Madrid side won La Liga in 2014 and were finalists in the UEFA Champions league that same year.
