A team of unidentified armed robbers on Wednesday dawn strangled a woman in her mid-30s to death at Klagon, a community near Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region.
The deceased who is said to have returned from abroad with her 14-year old daughter and another four year old was lying in her room when the robbers attacked.
With the aid of locally manufactured table, the robbers managed to climb into the room of the decease in a story building and attacked her while she slept.
The robbers who took away some of her belongings including her car key, neighbours in the area said refused to pay heed to the pleas of mercy from the woman said to be in her mid-30s.
Her 14-year old daughter who resided with her was also said to have been attacked by the robbers in the presence of her four-year old sibling.
However, the 14-year old survived until Wednesday morning where she was rushed to the hospital after neighbours heard the four-year old scream for help.
The deceased returned to Ghana with her two children some six months ago after several years abroad with her husband.
A neighbour who often assists the deceased, Dzibordi Avayevu told Adom News’ Kwame Yankah that when she heard the four-year old scream, she followed up upstairs only to see the lifeless body of sister Ama in the room.
Her Sister-in-law, Comfort Okrah also told this reporter that the suspected robbers took away the deceased’s personal belongings including the deceased’s car key.
Though it is difficult to tell the rationale behind the murder, Comfort said taking away the personal belongings should have been enough for the robbers.
“I have not heard her quarrel with anyone before ever since I met her and wonder why she could be subjected to such cruelty,” she said.
The body of the deceased was conveyed to the morgue by Police from Community 18 District Command with the District Commander, Superintendent Faustina Agyeiwaa Kodua Andoh-Kwofie promising that details of the murder will be communicated in due course.
As at the time of filing this report, arrangements were being made to inform her extended family at Obuasi.
