Following a Ghanaian xxx rated music video titled “Ewurama” by Lord Paper that broke the internet some weeks back, radio presenter / Blogger Dan Kwasi Prince has called on the relevant agencies in-charge on issues of nudity and child pornography, to see to the arrest of the artist.
It however became the breakthrough story of the characters involved in the video. They are going about having radio tours, engaging listeners on an act that is against public morals. The lady involved now seems to be the missing ingredient in artistes’ music videos and so lots of people want to get close to have her do her magic for them to also be noticed and most people just want to take selfies with the gentleman. In other words, they have become hot cakes!
“He and Nana Yaa girl (Ewurama) needs to get arrested because is against our culture and the constitution of Ghana, if he is not arrested, then they should free Wisa Greid because I see no difference in what Wisa did from what Lord Paper is doing” he said.
BELOW ARE THE PICTURES OF EWURAMA BY LORD PAPER
According to Section 278 of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act; “[w]hoever publicly and wilfully commits any grossly indecent act is guilty of a misdemeanour.” And by misdemeanour, this is a non-serious crime (light crime) punishable by a shorter prison sentence of fine.
“The Criminal Code (Act 29/60) of Ghana has dedicated a portion of its content to treat offences against public morals. Read them below:
Soliciting For Immoral Purposes
Section 275 of the Criminal Code bans any person from persistently soliciting or importuning clients for prostitution or for any other immoral purposes.
Publication or Sale of Obscene Materials
The Criminal Code of Ghana debars anyone from publishing or offering for sale, any material that has the tendency to deprave societal morals. Any publication that is unnecessarily and improperly calculated to excite passions or corrupt those whose minds are open to such immoral influences can be held for promoting obscenity. he added.
Some few months back, hiplife artiste Eugene Ashie, popularly known as Wisa Greid was made to appear before the court for gross indecent exposure, a charge he pleaded not guilty to.
The ‘ekikime’ hit singer was one of the artistes who graced the citi fm Decemba 2 Rememba concert in December last year but probably one whose stage craft didn’t go down well with the audience when midway through his performance he pulled out his manhood and thrust it behind a lady dancer on the stage.
Even though his lawyer stated clearly that whatever it was that his client displayed on stage wasn’t a real penis and that it was for the beauty of the show, Wisa’s shameful act and the explanations could just not win the hearts of the public and so he and his management team had to quickly apologize for his indecent act.
It was fun as music lovers were treated with compelling performances by some mainstream artistes during the Decemba 2 Rememba music show held at the Accra International Conference Thursday.
Point is, we shouldn’t over look exhibition of arts like that if we really want to control obscene materials in our industry or country at large. We need to hold or discipline people who exhibit such works and shouldn’t make them enjoy any ‘benefit’ that comes with their actions.
Why make a case out of Wisa’s actions on stage but leave that of Lord Paper?
