Paul Afoko is still the chairman of the New Patriotic Party, former Chief of Staff Kwadwo Mpiani has said, adding that the leadership of the party erred in suspending Mr Afoko indefinitely.
“I believe the party was wrong…” Mr Mpiani told Bola Ray on Starr FM’s Starr Chat Wednesday February 24, 2016, adding that the suspension of Mr Afoko sets a “very dangerous precedence”, since similar actions could be taken against future chairmen and other party executives who may be voted for by the party.
The party’s leadership suspended Mr Afoko and two others: General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Second Vice Chair Sammy Crabbe, for allegedly working against the fortunes of the flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
He is fighting his suspension in court. Mr Mpiani said he was fighting for the soul and values of the NPP by his comments, adding that though the party had said Mr Afoko was suspended, he remained the chairman of the party.
