One of four supporters of a deputy Minister of Education and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who were involved in an accident while jubilating over his victory in the party’s parliamentary primaries on Sunday, has died.

The victims and the deceased reportedly rode on motorbikes in wild jubilation and accidentally crushed the bikes sustaining various degrees of injuries, which resulted in one of them losing his life Monday morning.

The victims are currently on admission at the Catholic Hospital in Battor, while the corpse has been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, emerged winner by garnering 9855 votes, representing 84.45 percent of the total votes cast to retain his position as the Parliamentary candidate for North Tongu constituency.

His win, threw his teeming supporters into ecstasy with several of them patrolling the constituency in shouts of joy while others also rode motorbikes and drove cars in careless manner.

Speaking on Okay FM, Monday, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa, who expressed his condolence to the bereaved family, assured that the party will bid the deceased fare well in a befitting manner.

He further urged his supporters to be moderate in their jubilation, avoid acts that are threat to their lives and also desist from teasing supporters of his competitors.

“We’re one big family; we need every one of us on board to ensure a massive win for President John Mahama. We’ve set a very high standard; in the last election the NDC secured 93% in North Tongu, in 2016 election we want to increase it to 97 %. We want all to know that indeed this area is the world bank of the NDC.”
