Milan won a friendly 3-0 over Monza on Thursday with Alessio Cerci on target and Kevin Prince Boateng playing 45 minutes.
Milan travelled to the Stadio Brianteo, with Luiz Adriano, Antonio Nocerino and Alessio Cerci all scoring in the opening 45 minutes to seal the victory against the Serie D outfit.
The Ghanaian made his appearance in the second half, coming on to replace Nocerino. Boateng played in Mihajlovic’s experimental 4-4-2 system, deployed in support of Luiz Adriano.
Although his lack of fitness looked an obvious issue, the he still got involved in a number of Milan’s attacking moves. He narrowly failed to get on the scoresheet after missing an impressive backheel attempt.
Boateng curled just off target and Cerci went close to a second when thumping the upright from close range.
The 28-year-old has been training with the Rossoneri since falling out with Schalke, able to play against Monza given it was an unofficial match, as he looks to earn himself a contract to return to the San Siro in the January transfer window.
Milan’s victory over Monza will do little to abate the pressure on Mihajlovic however, whose team were at the end of a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Napoli over the weekend.
