Founder and Chairman of First Sky Group, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse has appealed to government to enroll the cost of dialysis treatment in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), adding it will enhance the quality of life of patients.
According to him, the request have come at a time when patients are calling for financial support for the treatment of their kidney ailment as the First Sky Group have spent a whopping sum of Twenty Million Ghana Cedis (GH¢20,000.000.00) on the Free Dialysis Project.
Mr. Eric Kutortse was speaking at the 19th Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the First Sky Group in Accra, under the theme, “Out of God’s abundance, we have received grace upon grace” (John 1:16).
He said First Sky Group have supported the Dialysis Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for the past years and have paid the medical bills of patients, adding that it is in this regard that the Group have adopted the Renal Dialysis Unit of the hospital.
He further disclosed that Group have engaged in a partnership with a team of kidney and transplant specialists in the United Kingdom and as a result have supported four Ghanaian patients with kidney challenges.
Turning the spotlight on the COVID-19, Mr. Kutortse said the pandemic negatively affected the operations of many companies in the country yet the Group did not lay off staffs, never cut salaries, but the staff strength continues to grow to 5,000 and still counting.
The President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo represented by the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs Cecilia Abena Dapaah commended the First Sky Group for its commitment to the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) particularly in the health sector and assured that such companies will be given the needed support in the operational endeavours and activities.
She however indicated that government will take up the issues in relation to the healthcare delivery by the Group and apply the appropriate measures.
The General Superintendent, Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong Manso commended the management and staff of the Frist Sky Group for their dedication to works and their contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
In a sermon, the Founder and General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams urged the First Sky Group to continue to be thankful and be grateful to God for the blessings the company have received and applauded them for their annual anniversary thanksgiving service.
Present at the occasion was the Vice President of Liberia, Her Excellency Dr. Jewel Howard Taylor, Ministers of State, an array of the Clergy, Government officials and some musical groups who graced the event with gospel songs.
