The New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2016 Flag bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has started his “Rise and Build Tour” in the Ashanti Region with assurance to Ghanaians that the current flouring phenomenon of unbridled corruption under the Mahama Administration would be made unattractive.
He stated that this would be done through the strengthening of the institutions established and clothed with the power to fight corruption and come out with rules and regulations that would make it extremely difficult for people to steal from the state and when they do, they would be arrested and dealt with ruthlessly.
Nana Akufo Addo who was addressing NPP faithful in the Ashanti region on the first day of his three-day tour noted that corruption was one of the banes of the country, especially under the present administration which had received the highest amount of resources in the nearly six decade history of the country.
Free SHS
On his 2012 touted policy of free senior high school education, he insisted that it was never a campaign tool but a deliberate policy of the Danquah-Busia-Domo tradition and would be executive to its fullest in the first term of his administration.
He explained that free SHS would not be executed progressively but it be implemented as planned to ensure that every Ghanaian child, whether from rich or poor home would have access to at least free secondary education.
Nana Akufo Addo said it was unacceptable to allow brilliant and talented Ghanaian youth to cut short their education at the basic level simply because their parents do not have resources adding that countries like the United States have been reaping their investment in free SHS and Ghana could not afford to lose that opportunity.
As part of his itinerary in the Ashanti region, Nana Addo will meet party executives from all constituencies at the Georgia Hotel.
