The President of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo has called on the youth to show commitment through creativity and innovation in all working endeavours particularly in the areas of nursing and midwifery to enhance the health care delivery of the country.
She however urged the youth to continue to explore the potentials in their in life and take maximum advantage of its usage in the World of Works (WoWs).
The President of the GRNMA, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo was addressing a cross section of the youth in the health sector on the international youth day celebration under the theme, “Youthful Transformation of Health Systems through Innovation: The Nursing and Midwifery Perspective” in Accra.

According to her, the two professions must not be static in their working endeavour and challenged the youth to upgrade themselves through education by taking up courses to be abreast with the emerging trends in the health space.
“Take advantage of vocational and technical skills if possible and blend it with your profession”, she advised and explained that the gesture will boost their wellbeing and productivity.
“Continue to rebrand your careers and cultivate also the habit of networking among yourselves and again assured that such links will help create a common platform to discuss and deliberate on emerging issues and challenges at the work place and the health sector in general”.

In an address, the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer of Greater Accra Region, Mrs. Cecelia Oppong Peprah said the youth in the health sector are the future leaders of the health care delivery of the country hence they must explore and take full advantage of the opportunities to enable them attain self-confidence in every jurisdiction.
“Scale up your present education and be at a competitive edge when it comes to job openings and recruitment”, adding that nurses and other allied professions in the health sector have a lot to offer to the health needs of the citizenry.
She hinted that modern day nurses and midwifery have multiple professions and tasks and explained that it enables them quickly to fit into the job market and contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of the country.
In his remarks, the Youth Coordinator and Chairman of the Greater Accra (GRNMA), Mr. Prince Opuni Frimpong said the youth have the capacity to transform the health systems of the country and the society at large and advised them to continue to further their education in their chosen professions.

“Hard work pays therefore take advantage of every opportunity and add value to it”, he said and however urged all youth not to give up in the midst of challenges and remain focused and work towards their goals and destiny.
He advised them to show respect to their superiors at the work place or in the classrooms as well as refrain from social media of things which are not beneficial and unproductive.
Mr. Opuni Frimpong advised the youth to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols and be good ambassadors of the nursing and midwifery professions.
