The CEO of EIB Network Group, Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi popularly known as Bola Ray has revealed that staff are quitting the media conglomerate in droves because their salaries are in arrears.
He disclosed that for seven months in the year 2018, he had not paid salaries of his staff which resulted in many staff tendering-in their resignation letters.
According to him, the media conglomerate which includes media houses such as Starr FM, Live FM, Kasapa FM and GHOne was started with 483 staff but was now left with about 300 staff members.
He said he did not blame the staff for quitting because they had to cater for their families.
Bola Ray said at a point, he felt any staff member that entered his office was about to resign.
“In the month of August 2018, I had a lot of people walking away because it was difficult….. someone came to me and said: “My wife is insulting me because I have not been able to take money home for some months now.’ …….It got to a point that anybody who walks into my office, I ask: ‘Are you resigning,” Bola Ray said.
He added: “…And I must say that, out of 483 workers that we started with, we still have some great people out there, making about 300 who are still with us and across the nation, I want you to applaud them”.
“Who stayed and said, even if it is six months, seven months, we will be with you and we’ve reduced it [the salary arears] now down to about two or three months and we are still doing that to pay them off”.
The radio host said he was confident that all staff that had left EIB would be adequately replaced.
Bola Ray was addressing Ghanaian youth at the 2019 IYES summit.
