Ghanaian rapper Desmond Blackmore, known in showbiz as D-Black has revealed what could mar the relationship between his record label and his signees.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Black Avenue Muzik record label told the press at a meeting on Thursday that one of the things that could sever a deal his record label has with an artist is the lack of drive.

He explained that the label cherishes artistes who are always active and eager to take initiatives to make the next move.

D-Black speaking to the press on Thursday

“When I work with you and you don’t have the drive I have, it bothers me a lot. You look at an artiste’s WhatsApp status in the morning and the whole day he’s posting jokes. You are young, somebody is spending on you and the first thing to engage on unnecessary beef instead of posting your content,” he said.

On projecting Sefa to the top

Even though four artists have left the record label, he says he is bent on putting in the best of effort for the remaining acts.

Sefa

He noted that the label is working hard to make Sefa an A-list artiste.

“As a label, we’re going to do our best to make sure that she becomes an A-list artiste. She’s not there yet but I’m confident in her as a brand that within a year, she’ll be bigger than she is. She’s not gonna go down,” he said.

In response to the exit of the four acts

D-Black explained that Freda Rhymz was signed to his label as part of a deal with the organisers of the MTN Hitmaker show but decided not to renew her contract after its expiration.

On the part of Wisa, Dahlin Gage and Kobla Jnr, the BAM boss that had a mutual agreement to go their separate ways.

In the meantime, the rapper has released his EP titled ‘Smoke and Mirrors.’ It has seven songs.
