JB Danquah Adu murder: Suspect, Daniel Asiedu requests for ICC lawyer

The prime suspect linked with the murder of the MP for Abuakwa North, Mr JB Danquah -Adu, has called on the state to give him a lawyer from the International Criminal Court (ICC) to defend him.

Daniel Asiedu aka sexy Don Don, who together with Vincent Bosso is accused of killing the legislator, told the Accra Central District Court that he only wanted a lawyer from the ICC to defend him.

“I need a lawyer but I want one from the ICC so please help me to get one,” he told the court, presided over by Ms Arit Nsemoh.

Give me ICC lawyer

Asiedu made the request after the court had asked the accused if they had lawyers to represent them during Tuesday’s committal proceedings, which would determine whether or not they would stand trial at the High Court.

The court had previously informed the accused to get the services of a lawyer for the proceedings, but they came to court today without lawyers.

This made the presiding magistrate to ask the clerks to search the court premises for a lawyer to represent the accused, but no lawyer was found.

Although two Senior State Attorneys from the A-G’s department were in the courtroom to do the committal proceedings, the presiding judge adjourned the case to February 6, 2019 due to the unavailability of lawyers for the accused.

That was after she had directed the court registrar to write to the Judicial Service to request for lawyers from the Legal Aid Scheme for the accused.

Daniel Asiedu, however, insisted that he needed a lawyer from the ICC and not from Legal Aid.
