Ghana made a dreadful start to their 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations campaign after losing 5-0 to Ivory Coast on Tuesday in Group A.

The Black Sharks were faced with an early head injury to first choice keeper Adjei Sowah, which forced him out of the game after 10 minutes with the scores at 0-0.

Cote d’Ivoire seized the opportunity and scored two goals in five minutes through Aka and Djimi to lead the first session 2-0.

The Ghanaians were left chewing their nails when replacement keeper Dan Goka collided with an opponent and complained of dizziness but with the first choice keeper already out, he had to continue.

Ghana battled on and created chances of their own but Richard Osa and Alex Adjei failed to take advantage of the opportunities.

Aka made it 3-0 for Cote D’Ivoire before Djimi completed the hammering of the Sharks.

Next up for Ghana is a deciding encounter against Egypt who lost 3-2 to hosts Nigeria.

The winner and runner-up of the tournament will represent the continent at the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas.
