President John Dramani Mahama has assured that Ghana will be the ultimate winner irrespective of the outcome of the 2016 elections.

He also called on Ghanaians to remain calm and allow the Electoral Commission (EC) do its constitutional mandate of collating and declaring the results of the polls.

The president’s call is coming in the wake of mounting pressure on the EC to announce the results of the December 7 polls.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 8 declared that it had won the elections calling on the Commission to make public the results of the keenly contested elections.

The flagbearer of the Party on Thursday made similar calls by asking his supporters to remain calm as the EC goes through the process of announcing the winner of Wednesday’s election.

He was, however, confident that when the time comes for the declaration, it will be none other than himself who would be acclaimed.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), in a quick reaction, has described the announcements in press conferences by opposition NPP as unconstitutional urging that the EC should be allowed to do its work.

President Mahama, in a tweet Friday, promised that Ghanaians will make the nation proud no matter the Commission’s declaration.

“Let’s allow EC to carry out its constitutional mandate. We’ll make Ghana proud no matter outcome”, he tweeted.
