Commercial drivers who ply the Budumburam- Gomoa Abbekum road in the Gomoa East District of the Central region have threatened to invoke curses on police officers for extorting monies from them.

The taxi drivers who embarked on a massive demonstration Friday, said police officers in the area have turned commercial taxi drivers into cash cows, whom they terrorise and extort money every day.

As though that is not enough, the commercial drivers claim the bad nature of roads affects their daily sales thus making it difficult to make ends meet.

According to them, roads in Gomoa have not seen any development even after paying tolls to authorities to get them fixed.

Describing the situation as worrying, some angry taxi drivers who spoke to Daily View Gh accused the police of harassment and exortion.

The angry drivers, clad in red attire, arm bands called on government to intervene and fix the roads or face their wrath.

“We can no longer work as we used to because of the bad nature of our roads and the police in the area keep harassing us for the little money we make. We can no longer take it and that is why we are protesting to express our frustration.

“The police keep making our lives miserable even with this nature of roads and we will be forced to invoke curses on them if they continue” one driver said.

They have vowed to vote against the NDC government if it fails to fix their deplorable roads.
