Widespread examination leakages in last year’s BECE marred the exams and led to the cancellation of five papers. However, WAEC assured of tight security in the exams this year.
It promised to fly the BECE question papers to the various regions while personnel from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) help them distribute the papers.
The Director General of the GES, Jacob Kor while addressing the press prior to the exams, said the move forms part of its measures to avert examination leaks.
He indicated that arrangements have been “concluded with the Ghana Police Service and the Bureau of National Investigations to help provide effective security and quality control monitoring mechanisms throughout the period of the examinations.”
“Right from the time the question papers are carried from the depot, there is going to be BNI personnel accompanying the questions,” Mr. Kor added.
