Residents of Nungua – Teshie, La in the Greater Accra Region are protesting against the Electricity Company of Ghana as “outrageous and unrealistic bills.
The demonstrators, who mobilized from Nungua, Teshie and La some of which read, Okpongo Meter… Eeegbe wo!!, Prepaid…. Bani Oba Jie, midst brass band rhymes.
The hours march, took the protestants to through the main street of the town to the District, Assemble the District office of the EGC, and the then to Teshie, where their leaders address them.
According to the petition, ECG customers who were previously paying between GH60.00 and GH70.00 monthly for their domestic consumption, had since January this year been paying between GH300.00 monthly.
The demonstators urged the customers not to pay the thier electricy untill all the appealed to the managerto to remain at post to meet customers to adrress their concerns.
